About Akyaka
Akyaka is a small coastal village at the eastern end of the Gulf of Gökova, at the foot of pine-covered mountains. The ice-cold, crystal-clear Azmak stream, with restaurants on its banks and boat rides along it, is the village's signature sight. The traditional style of building with wooden balconies, pioneered here by architect Nail Çakırhan, gives Akyaka a distinctive look. A steady afternoon wind makes the area one of Turkey's known spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Akyaka is a member of the Cittaslow network.
