Girne (Kyrenia) is a historic harbour town on the north coast of Northern Cyprus, set at the foot of the Kyrenia (Beşparmak) Mountains. The horseshoe-shaped old harbour, lined with restaurants and cafés, is the heart of the town, and Kyrenia Castle at its eastern end, home to the Shipwreck Museum, draws many visitors. Bellapais Abbey lies in the nearby village of Beylerbeyi, and St Hilarion Castle sits high in the mountains above.
