Manavgat is a lively district town just north of Side, built on both banks of the Manavgat River from which it takes its name. Boat trips along the river down to the sea, the Manavgat Waterfall a little north of town and the Green Canyon on the reservoir upstream are among the area's most visited sights. With its markets, bazaar and permanent population, Manavgat is a place of everyday Turkish town life rather than a resort, surrounded by villages and farmland.
