About Foça
Foça is a historic coastal town north of İzmir, built on the site of ancient Phokaia. The Phocaeans were renowned seafarers and founded the city that is now Marseille. Foça is known for its two bays, Küçükdeniz and Büyükdeniz, its restored stone houses and the remains of the old walls known as Beşkapılar. Its coast is a specially protected area and one of the habitats of the endangered Mediterranean monk seal, and boat trips run to the Siren Rocks.
Many of Foça's boutique hotels and guesthouses are in converted stone houses on narrow lanes in the old quarter, in which case your driver will drop you at the closest accessible point.
